Anorak Kickstarter launched
What a great video by Jaccob McKay. So begins a crowdfunding campaign to produce 100 wax canvas anoraks in a Melbourne production line. Having Jaccob’s help with photos and videos for this campaign has been invaluable. It has been a surprising amount of work to get to this point, and it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Blackwood canoe paddles
My passion for canoeing has me making canoe paddles now in three distinct shapes. The long paddle for open water, the white water paddle for rapids and turbulent water, and the light paddle for all round easy touring.

A sheepskin sleeping bag!
In a slow and deliberate process, I've been developing a sheepskin sleeping bag, made from the offcuts of the vests. I've been using them now for a complete turn of the seasons, in the summertime as rugs, in the wintertime as sleeping bags.

New video for Peak Oil Company by Michael Mouritz
Michael Mouritz has made Peak Oil Company a nice new video. Working with Michael was an effortless pleasure. He's really good at what he does.

In Search of New Dimensions
In a series of serendipitous moments and heart awakening events over recent months, I've decided to move PeakOilCompany into being a project much more aligned to personal and artistic interests.

Samples, wholesale, onshore, offshore, local
A bigger international brand contacted Peak Oil Company a few months ago, asking for samples and wholesale prices. Having a range is something we've been wanting to get going for a while now, so we took the opportunity to develop a number of products to see where the interest might lead.

New product - a frame pack and bag system
It's been a mad mad couple of months, designing, prototyping, redesigning, re-prototyping a frame pack we're calling Bag 1, with modular system extensions we're calling bags 2, 3 and 4 :)

Kangaroo Leather Jacket
Did you catch a glimpse of the kangaroo leather jacket? It was commissioned by a local mountains fella. Working with kangaroo leather is super luxurious, and an intimidating prospect. One false stitch and it's start over, buy new skin. Expensive.

Ah Toggles
Here's another custom jacket just finished. It takes the design developed in the kangaroo leather jacket project, applied in a light brown waxed canvas, and adding the usual hood and wool lining.

The Patrol Cap
The patrol cap is a classic piece of military kit, evolving from the French kepi and American Civil War, through to US soldiers today. It's a design that I can't argue with, after wearing one every day for nearly two years.

We're going to be in a documentary
Check out this video of a vest getting made, in the Wilga Menswear studio in Kallista. This is a clip from the forthcoming documentary 600 Mills by Martin Wood.

Jacket orders are progressing
It's been a busy winter so far, which is good for peakoilcompany but not so good for folks waiting for their orders. We're about 2 weeks behind, trying to catch up to the commitments.

That completes the July orders
We're finishing the last of the July 2016 sheepskin vests this weekend, clearing the cutting table to start on a range of jackets ordered for the August run.

Getting Ready For Making in July
The end of June is approaching, and the first of the Antarctic fronts are roaring across the high country. The wind is driving sleet and snow into every crevice, and scouring the open plains above the snow gums.

Field testing jackets, pants, gloves and sheepskin vest - Hotham falls
The sheepskin was awesome! It sure got wet, but only the outside. The wool fleece remained dry and warm - it really is amazing to wear.
