Brushtail Possum or Sheepskin options.
Brushtail Possum skins are incredibly warm and light weight. We source our skins from trapper and tanner Jaydon Cameron at Traditional Tanning NZ. They trap and veg tan their possums, to the best quality we have seen.
These bedrolls are great to lay on, sit on, or wear as a poncho. If you need extra padding, fold it in half. If you need warmth out and about, pull it over your head and belt it around the waist for a poncho vest. The fur is beautiful and silky, the leather light and soft.
A very versatile bit of luxury to have on you always.
Two large real sheepskins sewn together to make one large bed roll, or patchwork versions made from offcuts or smaller skins.
The finished bedrolls are 55-60cm (22-25 inches) wide and 1.8-2m (5.9-6.7 feet) long, with a 40cm (19 inch) slit added at the centre for wearing over the head to make a poncho vest. 25mm (1 inch) cotton webbing bedroll strap included and doubles as a belt for the poncho conversion.
Sheepskins are remarkable insulation on the ground, and plush comfort to sleep on, winter or summer.
We recommend applying a treatment to the leather side of your bedroll poncho when you get it, to help it resist moisture, dirt and stains.
Here’s a short video showing the patchwork sheepskin being made.
